George Widener has led a life of anything but the ordinary. Events and people in his life, beyond his ability to understand them, forced him early in life to consider the subconscious and alternative solutions. George Widener was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1962. He struggled successfully to overcome a tough inner city childhood and joined the American military at 17. He has visited nearly 7 dozen countries and been in several war torn areas. He has always had a love of drawing and turned to art seriously after being significantly influenced by his multicultural experiences. Completely self taught for a number of years, he now studies art at the University of Tennessee where he is a Ronald McNair scholarship student. George Widener has recently been interested in Eastern Europe issues and has been working to arrange cross cultural exchange exhibitions between `West and East’ contemporary artists.
