Poems

David shows that Northern California poets and the post-Beats do more than stand on their heads at parties and pose for photos in front of City Lights. If he were not a poet, he would be some Grand Rabbi, inspecting obscure texts like Charlie Parker's modes in "Blues For Alice" with one eye and Gilgamesh with the other. Most poets drown in deep water after about twelve lines, but David can write lengthy poems with fascinating twists and turns that never lose their freshness.
