Wanda Phipps, is a poet, translator, dramaturg and journalist. Wanda's poems have appeared in over thirty journals including Exquisite Corpse, Transfer, Red Tape, The World, Hanging Loose, Sensitive Skin, Long Shot, Agni Review and the Webzines $lavery: Cyberzine of the Arts and Handymag. She's performed her work live all over the U.S. as well as on the CDs State Of The Union (Atavistic Records) produced by Elliott Sharp, Poemfone Vol. 1: New Word Order (Tomato Records) and the audio cassette magazines We and A Sheep On The Bus. Her work can currently been found in four anthologies: Oblek: Writing From The New Coast, The Unbearables (Autonomedia), Valentine, and Verses That Hurt: Pleasure And Pain From The Poemfone Poets (St. Martin's Press). She's also received awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts, Agni Review, the National Theatre Fund and the New York State Council on the Arts. Her translations with Virlana Tkacz of Ukrainian poems have also appeared in several journals and anthologies including: From Three Worlds: New Writing From Ukraine (Glas/Zephyr), A Kingdom Of Fallen Statues: Poems And Essays By Oksana Zabuzhko (Wellspring), Worlds Of Visions International Anthology, and Eastern Visions Anthology. Wanda coordinated the Monday Night Reading/Performance Series of The Poetry Project at St. Mark's Church for three years and is a founding member and dramaturg of Yara Arts Group (a resident theatre company of La Mama E.T.C.).
