Aire

Aire de minúsculos recuerdos
Y mayúsculas resonancias
Aire de hilos cortados
De sueños tejidos
Aire de lima fresca
Y fresas que escaldan
Aire de estómagos contraídos
Y lenguas que se distienden.

Aire escarcha,
Látigo de
Cartografías,
Litografías,
Grafías
De aire desmenuzado.

Aire
Transparente, torpe
Simple, triste.

Aire de sol-es
Que se clavan
Como
Hisopos negros...
...Tiempos a destiempo.
Caduco estar
Inevitable ser.
Ser-estar
Aire
En el aire
Airando el ayer
Del presente aire.

Air

Air of minuscule memories
And capital/major/tremendous resonances
Air of threads cut
Of dreams woven
Fresh lemon air
And scalding strawberries
Air of contracted stomachs
And distended tongues.

Frost air,
Whip of
Cartographies,
Lithographies,
Graphical symbols,
of crumbled air.

Air
Transparent, clumsy
Simple, sad.

Air of sun-s
Driving into
like
Black hyssops...
...Times at a bad time.
To be perishable
Inevitably be.
To be-to be
Air
In the air
Airing yesterday
From today's air.

en el  quiero y cierto;

abierta y hueca,

(Silencio).

Are You Certain You Love Me?

Are you certain you love me?,
you asked me once,
When the threads of distance had extended
and the scissors of time had appeared.

Some Summers ago,
The walls of the word faith became wet,
they hung a pair of earrings in its ear
To imagine that when I couldn't hear you,
at least I could hide the silence.

Sentences disguised the ulcers of the white pages...
...but Amen never appeared.

Certain has collapsed,
Its column of sand impregnated with dried lips and compressed cry.

The letter 'c' which appears at the beginning of the word,
got tied to color balloons,
those days I was still trying to become attached to you...
Nights later it appeared in my bed,
in the form of Medusa,
I felt it in my inner thigh, with an electrifying heat,
burning like a sickle,
tearing off what was left
and then such pain,
it filled me with your space.

But I have to accept the letter that hurt me the most was 'e' 1
by joining 'r'
and mixing with each other
dancing the same Son,
 between your name and mine.
In the center of sounds,
I'd be lulled by you and exhausted in you,
Finally I was left sacrificed in the letter 't'.

After that, your absence became present,
and with it a herald bulletined me a pair of departures,
He told me that 'a' was leaving
from the word "certain",
it had been there,
open and empty,
resistant to scarring with a final period.
He also spoke of 'i' and 'n',
At the end when only them were left
You were not so inside me anymore.

Today I understand that certain does not contain your name,
only mine,
suppressed by the sounds my feet made.
That day when I went up the stairs,
I tried to reach-you a sigh,
I loved you for certain.
And when you were not there anymore,
I loved you in the des-ert 2 you left behind.
I loved you and a lot, specially in err-or...
...I loved-you-lots.
But today there is nothing left to write to you,
tell you I love you cer-shh. (Silence)

1 The original poem plays with the word "Cierto", so the letter right after C, is 'i'. In English, it became "Certain", so I took some liberties with the letters mentioned. There is an 'i' in certain, but at the very end.
2 Untranslatable play on words with the similar sounds of the words: cierto, desierto, desacierto (certain, desert, error)
