Neo Molefe Shameeyaa

Voices

She listens to the muffled sounds
of children's voices
that still refuse to
speak against the pain imposed on them.

They speak of the sorrow that has
taken their mother to that house
where whores parade for quick sex, quick cash,
and a quick fix.

These children refuse to speak because
their voices are muted in crime and drugs,
in an aspiration to get

the next BIG tender, to be a next BIG shot
so they can rise above this atrocity and injustice.
